  • 11/11/2018 Myrtle's Practices #6: Work, Change, Willingness

Just because we're good at something doesn't mean its the only thing we should ever do. Myrtle reminds us that sometimes change is an invitation to look deeper within ourselves and see what new, higher expression of Good may be emerging.

  • 11/04/2018 Myrtle's Practices #5: Abundance

Myrtle reminds us we have everything we need. We need to claim it,

  • 10/28/2018 Myrtle's Practices #4: Denials and Affirmations

In a week which saw more horrific violence, this time aimed at a community of faith, we start with Myrtle's declaration that "We boldly deny evil". It can be a challenge to speak such words and know the Truth in the face of such events. Additionally, at the beginning of our service, Leadership Council member Birke Earl shares what our mission statement means to her. "Affirming Oneness, we inspire, empower, and support practical spiritual growth through prayer, meditation, and service to our community, in an atmosphere of love, joy, peace and prosperity for all."

  • 10/21/2018 Myrtle's Practices #3: Rest.

We all seem to have a tendency to feel that if things are difficult, they aren't worthwhile. Those two words - difficult and worthwhile - are not actually synonyms, and one is not a prerequisite to the other. When we cultivate Faith, we cultivate the ability to trust. When we trust, we have no reason to stress and strain.

  • 10/14/2018 Myrtle's Practices #2: Know God (The Golden Key)

We had audio difficulties during the first part of the lesson. The part not recorded introduces Myrt'e Fillmore's practice of turning away from our challenges and knowing instead that God - Spirit - Universal Mind- is ALWAYS present in every situation. This is basically the same message that Emmet Fox shared in his well-known essay, The Golden Key. That is: Whatever the problem, situation, or circumstance, if you will turn away from the problem and think about God instead, the problem will be resolved. It may not be instantaneous, but it might. It's up to us, however, to actually practice the practice!

  • 10/07/2018 Myrtle's Practices #1: Expect the Best of Others (Loving Kindness)

While she didn't use the term "Loving Kindness Meditation" for what she advocated, that is what we would know this as. When we think of someone we consider to be "other" or "enemy" or anything "less than" part of our own Oneness, our practice is to become still, focus all of our kindness and love on them, and know the Truth of them, which is Love, Light, Good-without-opposite. We do no one any favors if we consider others to be outside of our circle of Good. We must expect the best of ALL people, and - as Myrtle reminded us - as we are able to do that, we enable them to see themselves in that Light of Goodness.

  • 09/30/2018 - Myrtle Fillmore on Subconsciousness

Continuing our focus on Unity co-founder Myrtle Fillmore's wisdom, we look at the need to overcome the default programming of our subconsciousness. As she said, most of us are very well-trained in the ways of the outer, material world, and it take not only the big "a-ha" moment, but the willingness to diligently work with that new understanding.
