Peace, Wholeness, and TIme Apart

Thu, 03/19/2020 - 7:04pm -- nstrauss
Dear Friends-  By now I'm sure you know that gatherings of over ten people are being very strongly discouraged, and in keeping with that guidance, we've put our face-to-face activities, including our Sunday services, on hold effective immediately. We'll be gathering online soon, so stay tuned for more information.

Holiday Expectations

Sat, 12/08/2018 - 12:00am -- nstrauss
Yes... we all blinked somewhere along the line and here it is, the Christmas season once again, soon to be followed by the beginning of 2019, and the shift of 2018 into our rear view mirrors! We've all experienced the way that time seems to speed up and slow down and stall from time to time. When we notice these things, we can choose to use them as reminders that everything in our human experience of Life is constantly shifting and changing according to our perception. Wise teachers have reminded us over and over again that, as we believe, it is done.

Comparisons

Thu, 11/15/2018 - 12:00am -- nstrauss
As humans living in a physical world of material things, we are used to seeing, touching, hearing, tasting, smelling, and basing our thoughts and judgments on external things. We look at a clock or the calendar, mentally compare it to our next due date or the length of our to-do list, and we decide whether to groan or celebrate. We look at our bodies, compare them to the images we see in the media, and decide whether we measure up or fall short.

Being a Good CItizen

Thu, 11/01/2018 - 11:32am -- nstrauss
Like many of you (and probably most who call this nation home), I have been struggling with what "being a good citizen" means today. I came of age during that chaotic period of the late 6os-early 70s, and I felt frustratingly out of sync at that point: I was old enough to be disillusioned, but too young to do anything about it. When I could finally cast my first presidential ballot, I very proudly voted against the one I perceived to be "bad".

Eyes to See... (revisited)

Thu, 10/11/2018 - 1:52pm -- nstrauss

One of the phrases which occurs repeatedly in the Bible is guidance for "those to have eyes to see and ears to listen..." Obviously we all have eyes and we all have ears, but do we all really see? Do we really listen?

Our individual spiritual journey takes place within the larger collective journey being traveled by all of us as a whole.

You Be You - Whole, Complete, Perfect!

Thu, 08/30/2018 - 12:00am -- nstrauss
When we travel our spiritual journey, it seems there's a tendency for us to think we're doing this spiritual work because we're not good enough as we are. That we have to "fix" all of the things that are "wrong" with us. We seem to have the belief that there is something called "perfect Spiritual Being having a human experience", and that we must become that perfect expression. That there is a "good" way to live life and a "bad" way to live life, and if I am behaving badly then I must be bad.
