A positive path for spiritual living

Are We Adding to the Chaos?

Thu, 07/27/2017 - 12:00am -- nstrauss
"... we think and say that which is not in accord with the prayers we have made. For example, we go in the silence and declare statements of prosperity. Then in writing a letter we speak of lack and failure and longing which proves that we have those thoughts and feelings of lack in our hearts and that we are dwelling on them more strongly than we are on the Truth that we have prayed."  Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters, p.18

Transforming Consciousness

Thu, 06/08/2017 - 12:00am -- nstrauss
If Unity were to declare a creed, it would probably be something along the lines of:

"God is Good ALL the time, no exceptions. There is only One Power, One Presence - God - Good Without Opposite - active in all areas of my life, my body, my business, my relationships. God = Good = Omnipotence, Omniscience, Omnipresence."

You Are Not Alone

Each of us has times of struggle. Sometimes I think that those of us who align with Unity/ New Thought principles don't really want to admit that fact. With our focus on living life from the power of a positive orientation towards our lives, we just don't always want to admit that no one gets through this human experience without their share of pain. It is important to remember this; forgetting can lead to metaphysical malpractice, or blaming ourselves for the trouble which shows up in our lives.

Trustees For Humanity, Part 1

Thu, 04/27/2017 - 12:00am -- nstrauss
"We know that by virtue of possessing the Truth of Being,
we are nothing less than trustees for humanity."   Emmet Fox

I have a complicated relationship with the question, "why?" Knowing the "why" of things is helpful to my human, egoic brain because it provides context, logic, reason, motive, and satisfies a deeply felt need for things to make sense.

Honesty, Integrity, Service

Thu, 03/30/2017 - 12:00am -- nstrauss

It's not any secret that I believe our spiritual lives need to be rooted in the practical day-to-day human lives we are each here living. On Sundays, I talk about Being That Which We Are, and share what (I hope) are helpful tools which allow us to bring our Beingness into our homes, our relationships, our jobs, even our behavior in rush hour and long lines at the grocery store.

Seeing Only Good

Thu, 03/16/2017 - 12:00am -- nstrauss
"And the Lord God commanded the man, "You may freely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall die."   Gen. 2: 16-17, NRSV
Most of you know the rest of the story... the serpent convinced Eve that they would not die if they ate that fruit, and that God's prohibition of eating from that particular tree was because he (God) wanted them to remain ignorant.

Is it Time to Stop Seeking?

Wed, 03/01/2017 - 12:00am -- nstrauss
A few years ago, I began noticing that whenever I used or heard the term, "spiritual seeker", there was some sort of increasingly-noticeable feeling of discomfort. Having identified myself as a spiritual seeker since my late teens, this visceral rejection of that oh-so-comfortable term was really quite puzzling. Without anything to take its place, I allowed the term to continue to live within my consciousness, but continued to feel myself less and less at ease around it.
