A positive path for spiritual living

Our Faith Community Partnership with Interfaith Community Services

Interfaith Community Services (ICS)

The mission of Interfaith Community Services is:
“To help Pima County seniors, individuals with disabilities and people in financial crisis achieve stable and independent lives through programs and services supported by staff, diverse faith communities and the community at large."

Faith Partnership:Summer Help Needed!

ICS Is in desperate need of Caregiving and Senior Services Drivers!  In the winter they have about 200 volunteers, but it decreases radically in the summer months.  This summer they have 60 drivers. Please contact Tori Carlson, the Volunteer Coordinator, at tcarlson@icstucson.org, or call her at 520-297-6049, if you are interested in helping out.

Caregiving and Senior Services Drivers – Provide transportation to doctor’s appointments, the pharmacy, the grocery store, etc. This is our most requested service. Assignments are usually 2-3 hours Monday – Friday. Flexible schedules allow you to decide your availability and mileage reimbursement is available. Use your own vehicle or become a driver for the new ICS Care-A-Van.

We are a Faith Community partner with ICS. Our partnership with ICS involves monthly financial support, promotion of their services, promotion of volunteer opportunities, attendance by our representatives at bi-monthly meetings and the option to refer our community members for services.

Faith communities have played an important role with Interfaith Community Services since the organization’s inception in 1985.

Working side by side, we are able to do more than any one individual congregation can do. Together we are a strong resource helping those in need with “Love, Cooperation and Service.” Over 50% of ICS volunteers come from the network of member faith organizations.

ICS provides services in order to fultill the following vision for their recipients.

The Vision ICS has for those they serve are as follows:

• Seniors and disabled individuals will have transportation, meals, and caregiving services available to them so they can remain independent in their homes.
• People in financial crisis will have a compassionate place to turn for vital services that help stabilize their housing, employment, food and health care situations.
• Seniors, individuals with disabilities, and people in financial crisis may gain access to personal resources, social support, and information to make informed decisions.

Interfaith Community Services provides a wide range of services for seniors, disabled individuals and people in financial needs. Please contact Susan Smith or Rev. Nita with questions about ICS services. Contact Susan via email address: outreach@unitypeaceaz.com.

Here’s what Volunteers are saying about ICS:

“This is the best volunteer place in town, and they help so many people. I can use my skills and know that my efforts are going to help people that are in need.”
“Volunteering at ICS is so enjoyable. You meet many wonderful people. At the end of the day, you also feel great knowing that what you have done matters. You have helped someone…maybe in a way that has changed their life.
